1000 FEWER CARS.

LONDON FLEET WITHDRAWN

LONDON, March 14. A thousand cars, the Heet of the British Motor Cab Company, were withdrawn from the London streets recently owing to the Home Secretary's decision that he cannot grant the application of the company to fix the legal fare in. London at Is a mile. About 2500 people will be thrown out of employment. The company contends that it cannot supply petrol and' continue business unless tne fares ar& increased to Is a, mile. Many of the drivers are said to be willing to pay for their petrol, but this is [ forbidden by their trade union.
