ENEMY ATTACKS ON WIDE FRONT.
SMALL GAINS AND HEAVY LOSSES
ASSAULT ON AMIENS-CLERMONT RAILWAY FAILS.
(Australian-N.Z. Cable Association.) (Received April 6, 8.40 a.m.) LONDON, April 5. The Germans attacked the British on a wide front in the neighborhood of Dernancourt, and made slight gains, but suffered heavy losses. The Germans also fiercely attacked the French, their objective being the Amiens-Clermont railway, but the attacks failed.
