AN ENEMY PRESS STATEMENT.
AMSTERDAM, April 4. The Neve Freie Presse states that before the beginning of the offensive President Wilson and Mr Lloyd. George tried to induce M. Clemenceau to accept the principle of opening pourparlers with Germany of a private and unbinding character. M. Clemenceau refused and threatened- to resign. Finally President Wilson and Mr Lloyd George accepted M. Clemenceau's viewpoint. '
