BASHING ATTACK ON THE ANCRE GERMANS PUSHED BACK. United Service. (Received April 1, 9.50 a.m.) LONDON, March 30. The intervention of certain Au»- ---> tralian brigades on the Ancre on Wednesday is recognised eveywhere as one of the most brilliant achievements amid the mass of heroic efforts. The troops arrived on Tuesday and immediately took up their positions. Next day they delivered a dashing attack from the eouthern bank of the river. The Germans were knocked back five miles.
