Desert Gold's first appearance at Randwick created. great interest; crowds flocking round her box to obtain a glimpse of the champion, who started a red hot favorite in the Autumn Stakes. She fully justified expectations, and wenij to the front early, ' never being headed. She was brilliant- i ly ridden by McLachlan, and walked away from the field in the last furlong, receiving a great ovation. Desert i Gold and Thana were first away. Desert Gold quickly took charge from Thana, Karanaud King, Kandos and ! Lanius. Thereafter JJesert Gold main- i tairied a length lead and easil- shaking off Thana's challenge in the straight, came away at the distance and won by four lengths. Time, 2.33.
