When advertisements are transmitted by telephone, especially frem various parts of the district outside Hawera, sued messages should be confirmed by letter. Great care will be taken to ensure accuracy in the publication of notices received by telephone, but necessarily there is a risk of error, for which the ■■'management cannot be held solely responsible. It is particularly desired that communications for publication shall not ba addressed to members of the staff personally, as such a course is apt to cause delay. ' . The Editor is at all times glad to receive correspondence giving news or expressing opinions on public matters. When " Correspondence" or Articles are signed with the writer's name or initials, or with a pseudonym, or are marked '•Communicated," The Star must not necessarily be held in agreement with the views therein expressed or with the mode of expression. In such instances, or in the case of " Letters to- the Editor," insertion may only mean that the matter or point of view is considered : of sufficient public interest and* importance to warrant publication.
