WARFARE OF MOVEMENT.
REPLACING WAR OF POSITION
".:..- (United Service.) • {Received March 28, ,12.45 p.m.) AMSTERDAM/March 27. A German correspondent interviewed Ludendorff, who said they had been j preparing for the battle strenuously for three months. Things were going exactly as planned, and the troops were showing' great elan. A warfare of movement had now replaced a warfare of position, although the Germans had been handicapped by the enemy holding the advantage of powerful ■. defensive works. The British were strong and determined, and were using very skilfully machine guns posted at places which the German artillery was unable to reach. He added that the devastation had - deeply impressed the Kaiser, who declared we should be glad that otir country had escaped such terrible things. Why, he asked, did we succeed in keeping the fighting outsicle our frontier? Because before the war h we always insisted on armaments cors responding to the utmost requirements -of the times.
