A NEW IMPORTATION.
A young pedigree J'eisey bull has just arrived mJiawera from Australia to the order of Mr Joh^NjcoW He come! dnect from Mr Woodmason's herd, and " on breeding should prove to be a very valuable animal. His sire was Handsome Boy V., O f Melrose (by Pretty Noble (imp.) by Noble of Oaklands) and nis dam, Woodmason's Jessie's Progress. This fine old cow is now 21 years of age and has just dropped another fine bull calf— a full brother to Mr iNicolson's. As a further evidence of her constitution it might b e mentioned that two years ago, under semi-official test, she made 464 lbs fat on-5.96 test m nine months, and for the same period m 1914, did 407 lbs on 6.38 test Her ™o,^ ter ' essie lV > recorded in 1915 792, 4 lbs milk, 532 lbs fat, 6:7 test and m 1916 8342 lbs milk, 523 lbs fat on a 'o.li tost. Both these tests were for nine months only. The grandsire of Mr Nicol- % on* y°, unS bull, on the dam's side, Lady s Superior Progress, was first and • aim^on^ t the; Royal Melbourne Show m 1895. 1896, 1897/1898, and 1839, and f^-icoo champjon at the same show in 1892 1893, and 1894. Mr Tapp, secretary of the N.Z.. Jersey Breeders' Association writing to Mi- Nicolson, mentioned that if the young bull is anything hke Lady's Superior Progress to look at, he will have something to enthuse over. Mr- Wobdmason, in a covering letter, considers the young animal in question "a beautiful type-of bull, ancl fee was sure that any heifers got by him would be producers. He had never •?2 Wn ?! a P001" heifer, to come in on either side of his breeding."
