THE MYSTERIOUS GUN.
SHELLS LESS DAMAGING THAN AERIAL BOMBS. I VALUABLE FRENCH HELP. AT CRITICAL PERIOD OF BATTLE. BY CABLH—PRESS ASSOCIATION —COPYRIGHT. (Received March 27, 8.50 a.m.) LONDON, March 26. Experts discredit the theory that the shells at Paris were dropped from aeroplanes, or that a projectile bursts after travelling a certain distance, thus pro. pelling an internal projectile. It is believed that the shell would weigh 3801ba with a muzzle velocity or 4000 feet It would be most jnaccurate in direction, and the gun would be very short lived. The shells would be less harmful than aeroplane bombs, and they are intended mainly to secure a moral effect. Artilleryists profess to understand the secret, and no suggestion is made of any new explosive. ' ■ The French gave most valuable help in the battle at a critical period on Saturday and Sunday.
