ANNIVERSARY SOCIAL.
The anniversary social in connection' with the Hawera. Presbyterian Church was held last evening, and was of a most successful character. There was a good attendance, and the Rev. H B Gray presided. The Rev. E. 0 Bhv mires was also present. An apology tor unavoidable absence was received^ from the Rev. C. H. Grant Cowen. The Rev. Mr Gray gave a brief address, m which he referred to the events of the year, remarking with regret that the Church's rollof honor nad increased. The women, with commendable loyalty, were taking on the work,' bf ther menfolk who were on active^ service. He referred to the impending departure of the Rev. Mr tflamires, eulogising his Christian work and that of Mrs Blamires. The Rev. Mr Blamires also spoke, and referred .the kindly relations which existed jbetween the churches in Hawera He thanked Mr Gray for his kmd.remarkSj and Wished him and his jr »* oontinued prosperity, ard Mr and Mrs Gray every happiness in their work. i
xv/usical items were contributed by the choir, and solos given by Mrs BracEf + dge- tv*Mt hA Ta-vlor> •Mb1 G. u*P' L' Green < and a. violin solo by Miss Cameron. Mrs Brackenridge and Miss Allan gav e a duet, while a double duet was rendered by the Misses aii '■ £? re ' Sturrock, and Hope Allan. The accompaniments were played by Miss Crabb,.Mrs L. A. Taylor Miss Lynda Spence, and Mrs Ivor John. The singing of the Doxology concluded a pleasant evening.
