Captain Furby, A.A.G., was in Hawera to-day. . A London cablegram reports the death from pneumonia of the Marquis of Dufferin and Ava. To-night, in the Central Tea Rooms, a lecture entitled "The Thread of Destiny" will be given by Miss Christie, national lecturer/ to the Theosophical Society. The lecture is open to all.

In St. Mary's Church on Sunday evena brass tablet will b e unveiled to the memory of the late J. A. Turton. Many of his friends will no doubt he present. There will also be a memorial service to the late Sergeant Eric Kirn} bell, who was killed in action three weeks ago.
