TIMARU, Jan. 1. The old year passed out disastrously for South Cantei-bury farmers, heavy iain. adding to the mischief done by frequent rains during some weeks past. A large proportion of the best wheat crops are badly laid, and cannot yield good wheat, which will be very difficult to harvest.
