LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL

WELLINGTON, Oct. 30. The Council met at 11 a.m., and appointed new managers to confer with the Bbuse of Representatives on the amendments to the Expeditionary Forces Amendment Bill as follows: Sir Francis Bell, Sir Walter Buchanan, Hon. Mr Aitken and Hon. Mr Fisher. The Council appointed as managers for the - third conference Sir Francis 8011, and the Hons. Samuel, Morgan and Earnshaw.

The Statute Law Amendment Bill passed its third reading. The Hon. J. Ban- explained that the clause providing for employment o£ discharged soldiers had not been dropped at the instance of Labor members, who were willing to make such provision in proper form.
