MAYOR AND COUNCIL.
MUNICIPAL MUDDLE AT MARTON
BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION,
MARTON, Oct. 30. Since Mr F. C. Wilson's election as Mayor municipal affairs in Marton have been stagnant. Stormy meetings have occurred almost every time the Council assembled, and no business has been transacted. Last night's meeting reached a climax in affairs, when previous resolutions appointing certain councillors to act as sub-committees were rescinded, and a resolution was unanimously carried appointing all councillors excepting the Mayor as a committee of the Council, and" delegat-. ing all powers and duties to them. This practically means that the Council has .power to ignore the Mayor in future.
The Mayor refused to accept a motion of censure against himself for writing an unauthorised letter to the W Tanganui Chronicle, threatening to exclude their representative from the municipal buildings. A resolution was earned that the Council dissociates itself from the Mayor's letter to the Chronicle.
