FOR HIS COUNTRY'S SAKE. Mrs Graham received the distressing news on Thursday that her son, Corporal Gordon Graham, had been tilled in action in France. This is the second of her eoms who ha 6 laid down his life for his country. Mrs Graham and family will have the sympathy of the whole ddstrict in their Bad trouble. Private W. Graham, who went with the 26th Reinforcement, has just arrived home, whilst a fourth son went into camp on "Wednesday. Truly a record. The grand patriotic concert to be held on Wednesday promises to be a great success. All that ie, needed is a fine night and for the residents to turn out in force, and siiceess is assured. The Ladies' Guild, which has done such excellent work in the past, is now making arrangements for the sending away of a Christmas cake to each of our boys that have left this district. As it costs a fair amount to make and send; each cake away, will those ladies who are not members of the guild (and all ouErht to be) kindly send along a few shillings to help to defray expenses. , Mrs Barker is president and Mrs Surrey lis hon. secretary.
