INTERFERENCE WITH DEAD BODY.

BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION DUNEDIN Aug. 2. At Roxburgh to-day, J. McDowall and F. Tamhlyn pleaded guilty to a charge of improperly interfering with a dead body. The evidence showed that the body was placed on pedestals near the high altar in the Catholic Church on M*onday night, and the accused removed it to the other end of the church, placing it on the floor. Entrance was effected through the vestry window. Statements by the accused showed that the body had been removed for a lark. Both were committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. Bail was allowed of £100, and one surety of £50 each, on condition that they reported daily to the police.
