EGMONT RACING CLUB.
COMMITTEE MEETING
- A meeting of the General Committee of the Egmont Racing Club was- | held last evening, when there werepresent: Messrs J. Quin, W. C. Adamson, A. S. Tonks, H. Washer, J. Gray, S. Adamson, H. Spratt, J. H_ Baker, and W. 0. Williams. Mr Quirt wag elected chairman of the committeefor the ensuing year. The following appointments weremade: Judge, Mr W. H. Hartgill;. Btarter, Mr C. O'Connor; timekeeper, Mr J. M. Currin; clerk of. scales, Mr Hartgill; hon. veterinary surgeon, Major Neale; detective, Mr S. Kraetzer; programme committee, MessraGray, Crocker, Quin, Hicks, Adamsoß, and Spratt; committee for licenses, Messrs Adamson, Qum } Gray, Tonkeand Good; course committee, Mr W. Adamson; garden committee, Mr C. Goodson. The appointments of handicapper and hon. surgeon were heldi orer until the next meeting. The chairman reported that owing tothe election of Mr Gray to the vicepresidency there was a- vacancy on the general committee and also on the stewards. Mr D. J. Goodwin was appointed to the vacancy on the committee, and Mr Nancarrow to that 6» the stewards.
With reference to the recommendation from the annual meeting that th»club should contribute £100 to the Egmont-Wanganui Hunt Club, it was resolved to hold over the, matter in the meanwhile.
A recommendation was also received from the annual meeting with reference to tie disposal of the club's profits for patriotic purposes, and in this connection applications were read from the St. ,lohn Ambulance and Bfed Cross Society and the Auckland Italian Consulate (for Red Cross work) f»r financial assistance. It was decided £©• defer consideration of these applications' until the committee had ascertained what its liabilities would be i* the current year. A further recommendation from th« annual meeting, that the training tracks should be sanded, was referred to the course committee.
In regard to the suggestion that members be admitted to the bird cage, a sub-committee consisting of the vicepresident and Mr Goodwin was appointed to inspect the present bird cage and report upon the proposal. The resignation of Mr D. Barry tm a member of the club was accepted. A quantity of routine busfneee yra&also transacted.
