HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT
The Department of Agriculture, Industries and Commerce has received the folloAving cablegram, dated London, July 7th, 1917, from the High Commissioner for NeAA' Zealand. (Note: Quotations, unless otherwise specified, are average market prices on spot): Meat—Lower prices are being accepted for Home-killed mutton and beef (mutilated Avord here). NeAV Zealand lamb, Australian lamb, released by order of the Government for the consumption of the general public. NeAV Zealand mutton, per lb, B|d; cAve mutton, Bid; Argentine mutton, small supplies, lOd; NeAV Zealand lamb, lOd; Argentine lamb, lid; Argentine beef (mutilated word here); hinds, 12id; fores, 93d. Butter and Cheese—Maximum butter prices remain unchanged. Cheese, no maximum prices fixed with the exception of English cheddar 132s per cwt. Butter market continues firm. Danish, per cwt, 208s to 2125; New Zealand, salted 19Ss to 200s, unsalted 198s to 200s: Australian, salted 192s to 1945, unsalted 192s to 1945; Irish creamery, salted, ]9&s; Argentine, no quotations, no supplies available. Cheese, no official quotations.
