N.Z. FARMERS' CO-OPERATIVE BACON AND MEAT PACKING CO., LTD.
A DE3VIONSTRATION OF THE COMPANY'S RESOURCES.
Unquestionably the largest, most attractive, and interesting display made at the National
at the Dominion Dairy Show is that of tee N.Z. Farmers' Co-operative Bacon and Meat Packing Company, Ltd.
The company's stand occupies a very , prominenjfc -position in the machinery I hall, and has a frontage of something like 30 feet, and the exhibit has been the chief- centre of attraction in the building. j The company is a purely New Zealand concern, .i lit, f course, its operations extend to many distant countries. As a device erected at the stand aptly puts it, the Swan orond of Hams is used from Pole to Pole, and*, it may be added, has been a household word in our own land for many years past. Every producer who has had the pleasure of inspecting this company's display must have .felt a thrill of pride in the knowledge'that we have here in New Zealand a company whose products will more than compare in quality and value to anything produced in tfche world to-day. Its operations are - one of the most important adjuncts to dairy farming we know of;, therefore, it is little wonder that such interest is being evinced in the great exhibition of hams, bacon, and preserved meats by visitors to the Show..
HAMS AND BACON
One important section of the company's display is, devoted to hams and bacon'of the Swan and Crispo brands. Bacon is shown in both sides and rolls, and the excellence of these is manifest to anyone having the least notion at all of quality. Three stuffed Berkshire pigs, showing accurately the type of animal required for curing purposes, are prom_ inent features at the stand, and needless to say have been examined already by hundreds of interested spectators, and Mr Walton, the company's representative is in charge of the exhibit.
PRESERVED MEATS
Another portion of the company's large stand is devoted .exclusively to an , exhibition of preserved meats, and it is truly wonderful the number and variety of goods manufactured and pur_ veyed by the' company under this heading We specially noticed that all products comprisedx in the company's lig. of preserved meats are TaTielTed, and exclusively sold under the well-known Swan brand. At the stand is to be seen, the celebrated Swan brand Brawn Preserved Beef, Mutton, Sheep and Luii- ' chean Tongues, Luncheon and Ham Sausage, and other equally well known and tempting lines.
THE 81-PRODUCTS
It must be a revelation to many per_ sons, even among the farming community, to know how practically eyery atom of the pig can' be utilised for practical purposes one way and ananother; and an inspection of the biproducts portion of the company's display will be a source of education to many. Here is to be seen sausage casings, prepared pigs' hair (used for making cushions and brushes), also pig's toenails (used for making glue), etc. pure blood and bone meal and bone dust for manures. In fact, an' excellent idea of the, whole business and resources of this/ farmers' company can be obtained by a visit to the stand. AWARD AND MEDALS.
Awards bestowed upon Swan hams and bacon and other products have been innumerable, and only recently three gold medals and- diplomas were receiv ed by the company from the Panama? Exposition. There are on exhibition at the stand. At the recent Hamilton bnc-w the company were awarded first and special for hams, bacon, and lard* also first and special for preserved meats and first and special for general design of exhibit. The judge remarked on the splendid quality of the company s Swan and Crispo Brands of bacon lard, and other products, and stat«l, aT we?i worthy of 'we highest award he could possibly bestow, and his fr^Ts* w^ re-echoed by' consumed ovef ******* in'°ducte the
