KILLED IN ACTION
j Quite a gloom was cast over the dis- : trict when it became known that Pri- , vate Allen Graham had been killed in action. Private Graham, with his brother Gordon, left with the Sixth Reinforcements. They were in Egypt ; for a time, and were with the first i\ew : Zealandere who arrived in France. Private Graham has been in the firing line practically ever since. Mrs Graham and family will have the sympathy of i a wide circle of friends in their sed be- ' reaveaent. Prirate Graham ■ was at one time assistant teacher at the OJsaiawa school. Private Will Graham, a brother, is in camp, and is leaving with the next draft. GENERAL. The euchre party held on the 11th proved a great success, fifty-six play- . ers taking part, and there were visitors | from Eltham, Kaponga, Riverlea, i roa, Te Kiri and Pihama. Mr Ned J Duggan won the men's prize, and Miss i : Flora Cameron the ladies' prize, after ; a play-off with Mrs Alf. Walker and Mrs # Aubrey Walker. After supper ' dancing was indulged in to the music of Mr and Mrs Collins. Mr S. Parsons, as M.C., kept things going. I
