ELTHAM.
« (From Our Own Correspondent,) SCHOOL COMMITTEE. A special meeting of the Elthara District High School Committee was held last night. In a report on the secondary department by the headmaster it was stated that the average roll number for the past year was 17£. _At the public examinations five pupils sat for the intermediate examination and senior free place examination, and four were successful —namely, Lillian Whiting Ethel Frethey, Roy Frethey, and Robert Gardiner. These four pupils now get senior free places until they are 1& years of age. Miss E. M. Parrott had completed her pupil teachership at the end of last ,year, and to fill her place Miss C. Reid had been transferred here from Normanby. The special business which the meeting was called to consider was taken in camera. 1.0.0. F.; M.U. The Loyal Eltham Lodge advertise its meeting for to-morrow night. The district officers will be present, and the meeting will be one of interest to members and visiting brethren. POLICE COURT. A man was fined 10s' for drunkenness and disorderly conduct in Bridge street at the Police Court yesterday. Mr L. Hill, J.P., was on the Bench!
