DEATH OF A WELLINGTON PIONEER.

( PALMERSTON N., Feb. 13. The death occurred this morning of an old Wellington pioneer—Mrs E. Bannister, at the age of 87 years. She arrived at Wellington in 1841 in the ship Arab with her parents, Mr and Mrs Peter Tutchen. The late Mrs Bannister lived in Happy Valley for mamy years, but latterly hud resided in Palmerston. She was widely known throughout the North Island. She leaves three sons and four daughters, the for. mer including Messrs R. E. Bannister (Sydney) and C. M. Bannister (Queensland).
