BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT.

: LONDON, Oct. 25. Wool—At the wool sales 7639 bales : were offered, of which 4944 were New Zealand. There was a good selection of slipes and crossbreds, and a small miscellaneous section of merinos. The attendance was large, competition being keen and entirely for the home trade. Merinos advanced 5 per cent,, owing to extraordinary scarcity due to the non-arrival of the South African new i clip, which United SftMes maaufapturers are buying above Yorkshire limits. Crossbreds were par to 5 per cent, advance! \ The outlook is satisfactory, the mills being full of orders, but tihe difficulty is in securing labor, owing to military needs. . The Government has arranged l with the labor unions to allow women to work in certain combing establishments', and it is expected the combs will , be kept fairly busy. , •
