MR MASSEY AND SIR JOSEPH
WARD
! LONDON,, Oct. 24. Six hundred people attended the New Zealand reception given, by Mr Massey and Sir J. G. Ward at the i.Hotel Cecil. The High Commissioners ' and Agents-General were present. [ ' Mr Massey, in thanking those present ! for their welcome, expressed, his api preciation of what Anglo-New Zealand--1 ers had done, for the Dominion troope, especially in regard to the sick' and ! wounded, and also the way they had rkept New Zealand's prestige up in the Old Country. He briefly outlined what the Dominion had done in the war, and added: "Whenever .and wherever the war will end, New Zealand .will be there. New Zealand is able to go on doing what she has done for. quite a long time." The National Government had worked smoothly, and_ the mission upon which Sir Joseph Ward and he came represented a united New Zealand.
Sir Joseph Ward also expressed his thanks, and said he believed that whatever might be the opinion in England there was no doubt that after the1 war they must create machinery to coordinate the interests of the Empire.
Mr Massey and Sir Joseph Ward attended the Privy .Council, the King presiding. • The King afterwards gave an audience to both Mr Massey and Sir Joseph Ward, who will attend a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
