SYDNEY, Oct. 10 The flood at Forbes is subsiding. A number of houses were -'ashed away, a toy was drowned, and serious d«\i age done throughout the district. The other rivers are falling. At the wool sales good cesses were in strong demand at recent high prices. Greasy merino made an Australian lecord of 25J-d, but medium favlties were neglected. There were cany withdrawals.
It is officially stated that preliminary estimates of the area under' wheat in New South Wales is 4.b24,000 acres, compared with 5,171,864 a<;res last year.
