RUSSIAN STATEMENT

LONDON, Sep. 24. A Russian communique states: There ■was stubborn fighting from the Pripet to the Roumanian frontier. The enemy 4H Saturday strongly resisted our advance on the Upper Sereth. We repelled all counter-attacks. Our Caucasus detachments advanced southward of Elleu.
