Captain Stenhouse, interviewed, said though personally unacquainted with the waters round Elephant Island, he had studied the conditions, and was of opinion that it would take a relief ship from two to three weeks from the time of starting, to-morrow. The breaking up of the northward pack would necessitate cautious seamanship during the long nights, thus curtailing speed.
