Rudyard Kipling's Empire Day message shows the poet in an unusual vein*. —the vein in which he was when he wrote "Recessional." Many of us would* appreciate him more if he wrote oftenerin that way, but, again, others would . simply hate him. The story is toldb of a lady who managed to get introduced to the poet, and in a burst of confidence told'him —"You know you'raunot at all what I expected; I thought,, you would be so different." "So I am," retorted Killing; "but this is my day— off!" It would be well if Kipling tookfe more days off. Barradough's Magic Nervine Cure* ! Toothache. —Advt.
