Mr H R. Kemp, of the Hawera post and telegraph office staff, is acting as postmaster at Manaia while Mr Oroodger, the officer m charge, is absent on his annual leave.
Mr H. W. Warcup, of Hawera, is attending the annual conference of beekeepers in Wellington.
Mr Arthur Hutton, a well-known Hawera boy who went away with tne mam body of the Expeditionary FoxJS trom Wanganm, and whoa few months ago returned invalided, has now obtained his discharge. He left Hawera to-day for Wanganm to resume his position as a telegraphist on the Wanganm post office staff
Mrs Gasquoine, wife of Capt C K-t Gasquoine, is a visitor to Hawera as ' the guest of her sister, Mrs C. E fcmnth. Capt. Gasquoine had a commission m the Samoan Expeditionary 1 orce, but volunteered for the Seventh Reinforcements, went to Egypt, and fought in the engagements against the Senuessi. From Egypt he went to l<rance, where he is now serving withthe Anzacs.
