HAWERA PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.

SPECIAL MISSION

The special evangelistic mission conducted by Evangelist James Cumming has had a promising beginning. The services on Sunday last were well attended, and were successful in every way. Mr Cumming has his own very attractive way of presenting his message, which is a clear statement of the gospel, and the congregation find it very easy to listen. The evangelist draws upon a large store of illustration, always to the point and some- . times very telling indeed. He lias i sometimes a droll way of putting i things, and an irrepressible fund of humor that raises a ready smile, and ' often more than a smile." This, however, is always subservient to the message, and is an undoubted aid in the j statement qf th© truth. People who attend onoe find themselves anxious to return again.- The attendance on. Monday and Tuesday evenings has been good, and with the sign of growing numbers there is every hope of the church being well filled before th<* mission has advanced far. Mr and Mrs Cumming are both very musical, and sing solos and duets. very acceptably. Special hymn bocks are used j with bright and tuneful hymns. -Special services are being held for _ the children, who have become so interested that they have unanimously voted for more. These meetings are

held at 4 p.m. The evening meetings commence at half-past seven in the church, and are open to all who will come. Nor.-churchgoers are especially invited, and they will not find themselves embarrassed. On Friday night Mr Cumming gives the story of his life. On Monday evening next he will give a lantern lecture on Scotland. To-night his subject will be "Notable Days in a Soldier's Life."
