OPUNAKE RACING CLUB

At a committee meeting of the Opunake Racing Club, it was decided to submit the correct card privileges for sale by public auction at the N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Company's horse fair, to be held on March 4. The publican's booth has been disposed of privately. Permission was granted tbe Kaponga Wounded Soldiers' Fund Committee to exhibit a motor car and dispose of tickets on same, but no personal canvassing to be allowed. The committee decided to extend tbe privilege of free admission to returned soldiers, and recruits in uniform. The secretary was instructed to allow owners and trainers of nominated horses the use of the course for trial gallops at his discretion. The Works Committee reported thatthe contractors were pushing on with the improvements, and expected to be finished shortly. Messrs Harrop and Aitken were appointed the club's farriers. This will not bar private farriers from plying their trade on the course if they wish to do so. —Times.
