A SOLDIER'S SUICIDE

An inquest was held to-dav residing the death or William John ~Wiffi|f vone of the men who returned by the'Maheno on pth inst.., and who had committed suicide at Dunedin by cutting his throat. The evidence showed' that deceased was suffering from dysentry, but the case was not a bad one. The patient was cheery and gave no evidence pf mental trouble. The razor' was in a locker at his bedside, where hospital authorities said it was customary to keep toilet articles:

Batholomew, S.M.. said that he could not qualify the verdict found that deceased had committed suicide by cutting his throat and recommended that the. hospital authorities take into question the matter of removing dangerous articles from the bedsides of patients, thereby removing temptation. *
