SYDNEY SUN CABLES.

LONDON, Sep. 26. The Times^ correspondent at Salonika reports that' an uninterrupted service of trains is running between Constantinople and Bulgaria. This is causing surprise, in view of the admitted scarcity of coal in Turkey. By this line troops and supplies are carried as far as Uzunkupru, and the" last journey is done by road. A returned traveller states that occasional cargoes of coal continue to reach Constantinople from the Black Sea. The Young Turks threaten Constantinople with guns to keep the disaffected population in awe. ' Throughout the Empire things have come to such a pass, through hunger, oppression, and outraged feelings, that a general uprising would follow the slightest relaxation of the • German grip on the country. The Times', in a leading article, spvs that the German press confirms the real objects of the schemes on account of; , which Berlin and Vienna are wooing Bulgaria as an accomplice. The schemes are part of a world policy which aims at German domination from the North Sea to the Persian Gulf, and to the frontiers of India. That is why Bulgaria is being assured that her great hour has come.

Dr Dillon writes that King Ferdinand and his Ministers have one ardent desire, and that is to rise on the crest of victory's wave. That consummation will* fill them with intense joj, and to that end.they would sacrifice the goodwill of the Allies and the affection of Russia.

LONDON, Sept. 2. An inhabitant of Bruges, who escaped to France, describes the life un- " der German rule. The officers occupy houses of the aristocracy, and they are. ransacked and stripped off all treasures. The people keep indoors. Few cafes are open, and are only frequented by German's. A reign of terror prevails. Arbitrary arrests are increasing, and the smallest success of the Allies is reflected by additional brutality toward® the people. Tlie French "War Minister has put at the disposal of the farmers, territorial troops and men in the depots who are unfit for the fighting line." Permission has also been granted the men in the trenches to return to the farms at seed time, while in the zone of the enemy the officers order the soldiers to help the farmers whenever possible. The Corriere della Sera learns from Bucharest that the Italian campaign is greatly demoralising the Hungarians. New recruits are deserting en masse rather than go to the Italian front, and Roumanians are being sent instead. The-Echo de Paris declares that the Opposition parties in Bulgaria have abandoned tlie struggle, and are allowing the Government to act at it pleases. It is probable that Bulgaria will observe for a more or less extended period an attitude which will be a sort of transition between unfriendly neutrality and declared hostility. 'During this doubtful period all complete military preparations will be made?

Berlin paners describe the progress of the fortification works' preparatory to the fresh offensive against Serbia, "•hose aircraft ore daily searching the frontier 1 region in order to observ the transport of troons and army groupings. * '
