WELLINGTON, Sept. 6. t -The following is the High Commissioner s market report dated London 4th. Note.—Quotations (unless otherwise specified) are average market prices on spot:-— Mutton: There has been no material change in the market during the week, and New Zealand is not quoted. There is very little at the market, and this is selling at: Canterbury 7£d per lb, North Island 7id. Good demand continues for ewes at s{d. Lamb: The chief feature in the market is a demand for light-weight. Canterbury twos Bjd, heavy weight, fours 7|d. Second class quality lightweight, 8d; other than Canterbury 8 l-16d for best quality, light-weight. Ordinary quality and light-weight as high as 7 15-16 d Beef: New Zealand is not quoted There is a large supply of chilled, which is selling at hinds 7|d, fores 6§d. . Butter: The market is firm and good demand continues for high grade. In Denmark production has been reduced to 10 pei? cent, below normal, and this, together with the demand from Germany and elsewhere and the shortage j of the best quality, makes prices very high." Danish per cwt! 168s to 170s, Siberian (firm market and good demand) 134s to 138s; Irish creamery (steady) 152s to 1565. Cheese: The market is advancing, with fair business doing. There has been much better- demand for colonial during this week at higher prices. Canadian per cwt 74s to 765; English cheddar (steady market with moderate demand) 945; New Zealand (in good demand) 74s to 755, and up to 765; United States 68s to 72s for good fine grades, to 62s and 665. Estimated Canadian and United States cheese stocks at London, Liverpool and Bristol on September Ist were 336,000,b0xe5, as against 192,000 at the same time last year. New Zealand and Australian stocks at London and Bristol on the same date wer.e 7750 crates, as against 3600 at the same time last year.
