HUMANITARIAN WORK
A most enjoyable time was spent at the lechnical School last evening, when demonstrations in the care and treatment of sick and wounded were given by Nurse Tebbutt and Misses Hill and Exley.
The preparation of several appetising and nourishing invalid foods was shown by Mrs French. Of work in the slums of London Mrs hlamires gave a very interesting account, while Miss Olive Turton told some very amusing stories of her experiences, in South Africa, and several curios, including a very large snakeskin, were shown.
A very successful evening's entertainment was concluded by Mrs Foyster giving an account of the expenditure of money raised by the local branch of the St. John Ambulance.
A vote of thanks was accorded to all who had assisted, and especially to the Hawera Star proprietary for their great kindness in doing all the advertising fr.ee. The takings' amounted to £3 Is, Avhi'ch bar, been handed to Mr J. A. Turtou, treasurer of- the local Serbian Fund.
