In a case in the King's Bench over j disputed commissions* tcr selling mo- j tor cars to the War Office, the evidence revealed that various commissions amounted to £40,000 or 10 per ; cent of the purchase money, which, \ the judge^ pointed out, the Government practically paid. ■Cotton operatives have been granted ■an advance during the war of o per cent, as the result of reference of the dispute to the Government for settlement. The House of Commons read a second time a Bill postponing municipal elections for a year, and the preparation of this year's register has been abandoned, thus saving £100.000.
