Johnstone and Mr W Tait, of Auroa, to sell by public auction as above, WITHOUT RESERVE— On account of Mr A. C. Johnstone (Brookside herd) — 60 purebred Ayrshire cows and heifers. Eack one is either entered or is eligible for the Herd Book. On account of Mr W. Tait (Ivy Bank) — 7 purebred Ayrshire cows and heifers. NOTE.—The Brookside herd was founded 18 years ago by high-class stock purchased from Olson's Estate, followed on by bulls and heifers bred by such noted breeders as J. Kyle, Esq., Rankin Bros., Cowan Bros., J. Parlane, Esq., Slack Bros, W. F. Olson, Esq., Brown Bros., and H. H. Olson, Esq. Breeders will thus see that absolutely nothing but the best blood procurable in the Dominion has been utilised in building up this herd. Owing to the great distance from the railway Mr Johnstone has not been able to exhibit his stock to any extent. Although making great milking propensities his first and chief aim, there are a number in the herd that would compete successfully in• any show. The whole herd has been milked entirely by hand, and are all going out absolutely sound. They also have the honor of having the best average test at the factory for the last six years.
