GOOD ACTIONS TELL.

A naturalised German hotelkeeper, resident in Victoria, recently offered the Government his premises for use as a hospital when the wounded men arrive from the Dardanelles. ■ In' making this offer he wrote: "A&. an- ap--preciation of my 35 years' residence in Australia, out of which I have been about a quarter of a century a naturalised British subject, I matee this offer of my large establishment for the benefit of the wounded soldiers. Coming, to the point, good .actions and deeds;-1* reckon, are much more telling than unkind talk, as carried on recently in the press. I hope that others will do likewise." In a letter to the Defence Department the same citizen said: "I read in the newspapers that you require accommodation shortly for returned? wounded and convalescent soldiers. Re'■ferring %o attached newspaper cutting, I have.exactly what you ask for, with large gardens and recreation grounds attached, and I herewith offer you my establishment for above purpose free of charge; also a large hall adjacent to the hotel, which would hold 24 to 30" beds, on the same conditions, free."
