GOLF.
On Thurcaay, June 3, the opening of the new course will be celebrated by the playing of the annual match with New Plymouth. The visitors will arrive by the mail train and will be taken at once to the links, where play will commence at 10 o'clock. Four-ball matches will be played in the morning and singles in the afternoon. The Hawera team will be:—O'Callaghan, Bayley, Elliott, Sutton, Walker, Page, llyan, Hunter, Blair, Burgess, Barley, Pratt, Welsh, Glasson, Kimbell, Mason, Wylds, A. M. Thomson. Tvichol, and Suisted.
New Plymouth team. —Ritchie, Weston, A. Bewley, Johns. E. Bavley, K. Bain, Steeds, Nicoll, Pat-on, Douglas, Dodson. MoQuade, Austin, Bloxam, Scott, Fraser, Kebbell, J. Glenn, and two names to coiiie.
J. Hunter won the prize for best nett medal score for May with 93 less 12 — 81, and Page the May medal handicap, with 99, less 16—83':
