At a meeting of the executive of the Auckland branch . of, the Moderate ' League the. secretary, Mr.'Armstrong, reported progress fi^pm ths central executive at Wellington. The League intended to ask that .regulations' be made restricting the sale of liquor for consumption off the premises to special bottle departments in each hotel, such departments to close earlier, than bars. The League's pi'ogramme included the establishment of a special Government department to supervise the whole of th& trade, and the reconstituting of local licensing authorities^ with .fuller powers of investigation.
