MELODRAMATIC MADNESS
THE KAISER'S HYPOCRITICAL WHINES.
A surprising announcement is made in the Gentlewoman on ceitain "Paris preparations" made by the Germans. There is a well-known bust of the Kaiser by the sculptor Bauzel. It is done in the most approved "Ich und Gott" style, moustachios fiercely turned upwards, the face expressing the utmost content/nt for "all outside the Ho .ise of Hoaenzoilern. According to • a reliable authority, thirty'eight casts of this bust were found by the police in Paris a short time ago, and they are nowt on the track of about three times as many in different parts o? the city— notably near parish halls, where stand the insignia of local authority. All the busts of "Marianne," the typical figure of the Republic, were to bo taken nown and J replaced by the vulgar figure of the "War Lord. The Paris correspondent of Truth says that on 4th September of last year the Kaiser was to* have 'been proclaimed' heir to j Charlemagne in' a biff theatrical set- j ting, amid the clash of guns and the "music" of German bands. He was to sit on a platform in front of the large painting of St. Genevieve while he announced the conquest of France and the ultimate subjugation of Europe. The writer says: "All these things furnish proof of a long premeditated^ descent on Paris, which" show that the Kaiser's whines about his couiitry being set upon by the Allies are the rankest Let ova- Lytteltohs and Bernard Shaws, who doubt the intentions of the infamous ruler -of Germany, read the evidence', of. this latest Parisian discovery!".
