ENTERTAINMENTS

OPERA HOUSE PICTURES

Quite a variety programme was presented at the Opera House last night, including some most interesting war numbers; and the Australian lightning sketch artist, as usual, got off several appropriate hits against the Huns. "The Redemption of David Carson" introduced something new in the dramatic line, and tne audience were given an insicht into the life of the Quakers, of whom David Carson was one until he fell from grace. The love of a woman caused him to commit almost every sin (murder being narrowly escaped) until his redemption; and then matters go along smoothly and happily. There was a very fine colored scenic entitled "Slimmer in the North" and the comics, "His Musical Career" (Keystone) and "Officer Kate" were, mirth-provoking in the extreme, the former particularly so. The programme will be repeated to-night.
