The largest crowd which has assembled at the Magistrate's Court at Wanganui since the Ruahine murder trial was present on Monday, the magnet being the hearing of'a number of charges arising out of the recent -rioting in the Avenue. . There was a considerable amount of ncise at the commencement of the day's proceedings, n fact which caused Mr W. "Kerr, S.M., to remark sharply: "If the people will not behave themselves I order the Court to be cleared. I will not. have any indecorous conduct here." The crowd" waited patiently until 4.30 p.m., when the prosecutions in connection with the stone throwing during the riot were ad'ourned until Monday next. The Sag will be flown from the Post o<fice tower to-morrow, it being the anniversary of the Queen's birthday. It will also be flown on the King's birthday, on Thursday, June 3. As the appearance .of the flag at the present time is generally thought to be connected with momentous news, the Postmaster wishes us to make this statement to our readers.
