DENMARK AS A MARKET,
GERMAN PUSH.
Attention is "being drawn to the emphatic way in which the German manufacturer has beaten the British in the Danish market. Yet it is eaid that the Danish shopkeepers not only dislike the Germans,'but also their goods, Germany, however, sends more goods, to Denmark than any other two nations put together, not because' her merchandise is of better quality, but because of her marked superiority in advertising and selling methods. In lace of this it is surprising to learn thac railway freights from Central Germany are much higher than the steamship freights from Great Britain to. the Danish ports. Although Great Britain is Denmark's best customer, only about 17 per cent., or 7$ million pounds sterling worth, of goods of Denmark's total imports come from G^jat Britain. Germany, on the other hand, sends nearly 17£ million pounds worth of goods to ;Den"mark, a figure which represents ,38 per cent, of, Danish total imports. ' . ' : " ;
