A woman was- atvacKed by an unknown assailant last night in the Mi. ftoskiil district, she was walking by herself when a man passed and then suddenly wheeling round seized her by the throat. He dragged her into some gorse, and.threw her otf .her feet.' The woman struggled- and cried for- help, and attracted the attention of two neighbors. The assailant made off, and, pursued by two residents, he disappeared around'a corner which was not lighted, and when the pursuers reached this corner they saw only a man walking towards them..
They considered his demeanour suspicious, and asked him wher© he was going and what he was doing. He was a well built man, and* he answered, calmly enough that he was "out for a walk." Thereupon they/ asked him to < walk to the bottom of the road with them, as a young lady had been assaulted, and if she declared him not to be her assailant they would harbor no further suspicions concerning him. While this conversation was in progress each held an arm of their man. He cheerfully expressed his willingness to accede, and tbe.v released" their hold. ! To their astonishment, the man then whipped out a revolver, and" told them to approach hs"i aa;aiu at" the risk of their lives. Without much ado he dashed off, and eluded airpursuers.
