PERSONAL ITEMS.
Mr C. Farley, formerly manager of the Kaponga factory, has been appointed manager of the Riverdale Dairy Co.'s factory. Mr H. R. Billing has been appointed Crown Prosecutor at New Plymouth during MrC. H. Weston's absence with the Expeditionary Forces. Mr E. C. Hay ton Avas this morning nominated by. Messrs Barton and A. Blair for a seat on the Hawera Borough Council. Captain E. A. Belcher, formerly headmaster of Christ's College, Christchurch, who was appointed to the 9th (Service) Battalion, Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry, in January, has been promoted to the rank of major. The battalion is at present at Falmouth.
The funeral of the late Mr N. Golding (late sergeant in the 65th Regi- . ment) took place at New Plymouth yesterday. The cortege included a number of members of the Veterans' Association and comrades of the late sergeant's Maori war days: members of the New Plymouth Friendly Society and the Good Templar Order.
