At St. Mary's Church last night (Tuesday) the choir gave a very creditable rendering of the Lenten cantala, "The Way of the Cross," which they have been rehearsing for some weeks. Under the baton of their conductor, Mr Wadsworth, the choir did good work, especially in the unaccompanied numbers, which were excellent. Time, tune and balance were good and even. The work reflected, great credit alike on themselves and their conductor. The solo work was capably taken by Miss E. Bernard, Mr and Mrs Kendall Messrs Smith, Chadwiek and AVadsworth. The duet, soprano and tenor, sung by Miss Bernard and. Mr Wadsworth, was sung very effectively. Mrs King, the church organist, offici- : ated at the organ. Before the <-'antata j a shortened evensong was held, at. which the acting-vicar, the Rev. G. Blackburne, read the service*-and in- J toned the versieles.
