CROQUET.
The Waitara Croquet Club paid a visit to. New Plymouth on Wednesday, and played a match with the NewPly mouth Club on the Ylvian : street lawns. The day proved most enjoyable until rain came on.and.caused a cessation of play. The visitors, who were hospitably entertained by the New Plymouth ladies, won. in both singles and doubles. Several ladies from the Stratford, Croquet Club paid Hawera a visit yesterday, and a very enjoyable time was spent on the local lawns, notwithstanding the difll weather and the dampness of the sward after the recent rains. The visitors were entertained, by the Hawera ladies "in a characteristic manner. Following are the scores, Stratford being mentioned •first in "jeach case: Doubles. AlWlames Dingle and Curtis 24' v. Mrs Wallace 26; Mrs Curtis 6 v. Mrs Suisted 26; Mrs Riera 26 v. Mrs Glasson 13; Mrs Boon 11 v. Mrs Speedy 26; Mrs Moon 26 r. Mrs Webster 17: Mrs Riera 20 v. Mrs Hollard 7. Totals?. Stratford 168, Hawera 173.
