MARCH, London 16. Mr H. T. Baker. Financial Secretary of the War Office, in reply I/O Mr Thorne, said that between August and December the army commandeered 40,190,973 pounds of frozen "beef, 10,497,489 pound® of frozen mutton, and paid current rates. Mr Thorne suggested that Australian and New Zealand meat not required for the troops he sold to the public at cost price. Mr Baker said the Government was considering a manner to dispose of such meat.
