An. exchange states that advices have been received in Auckland of a sharp advance in- rates ruling on the London market for New Zealand butter. Wholesale merchants have increased their price for standard brands to Is 2d from Monday, an advance of a halfpenny per pound, in sympathy with the London values. It is expected that the retail price will be advanced to Is 4d per 1b Cable messages received by merchants in Auckland indicate that the firming tendency shown by the London market has not yet reached its climax, and a further "advance is expected.
